Q

Strengths and weaknesses of correlation research?

A
  1. Strengths
    - Quicker and cheaper when there’s multiple co-variables THAN EXPERIMENTAL ways
  • More ethical than experimental - compare co-variables rather than manipulating behaviour
  1. Weaknesses
    - Cannot establish cause and effect - can’t say one variable causes another to occur bc it could be the other way around or caused by an unstudied 3rd

Q

Strengths of a case study?

A
  1. Suitable for unique circumstances that could not have been staged ethically/practically
  2. Provides most in-depth info about an ind
  3. Stimulates research into new areas of psychology

Q

Weaknesses of a case study?

A
  1. Unreliable - can’t be replicated bc those studied are unique
  2. Lacks generalisability
  3. May lose objectivity - researcher bias b/c intensely involved in gathering data
