11
Q

Scan

A

The seeker is moved in a predetermined scan pattern (box scan) to help it acquire and
lock on to a laser spot. This mode is employed prior to launch for Lock On Before Launch (LOBL) remote
mode and after launch for Lock On After Launch (LOAL) mode.

Q

Stare

A

The seeker is commanded to look straight ahead along the missile body axis. AGM-114B
missiles can acquire and lock on if laser energy is detected, AGM-114K, M, and N missiles cannot lock onto
laser energy in the stare mode. This mode is employed prior to launch for LOAL-DIR, LO or HI remote
modes.

Q

Slave

A

Slave. The seeker is commanded to follow external line of sight (LOS) commands. It can
acquire and lock on if laser energy is detected. This mode is employed prior to launch for all autonomous
modes.

Q

Track

A

The seeker is commanded by the seeker electronics assembly to maintain the reflected
laser energy centered on the detector/preamplifier assembly so that the optics assembly is pointed at the
target.

17
Q

LOAL

A
  • IFOV 8x8
  • Scan pattern 32x4
  • Searched area 40x12

Pattern short and wide to prevent flying past target

18
Q

Four requirements to effectively use Hellfire

A
  1. PRF of laser designator and laser guided weapon must be the same
  2. Direction of attack must allow weapon to sense sufficient reflected laser energy from target
  3. Laser designator much designate target at the correct time
  4. Attacking aircraft must release weapon within delivery envelope.
19
Q

Inhibit

A

Prevent operator from performing desired operation

NO ARM, WOW, CMPTR, NOMSL, CODE, BACKSCT, HANGFR, MISFR, REMTGT, REM POS, RD WARM, DISPLAY

20
Q

Contraints
