Q

What is the equation of IP?

A

I.P = [Ca2+]t [F-]^2 t at time t
Not necessary at equilibrium
most of the time t=0 (initial)

Q

How do we determine the precipitate with IP?

A

I.P > Ksp the solution is supersaturated and precipitation occur.
I.P = Ksp the solution is saturated and equilibrium exist already
I.P < Ksp the solution is unsaturated and precipitation will not occur.

Q

will a precipitate form when 0.150L of 0.10M Pb(NO3)2 and 0.100L of 0.20M NaCl are mixed? (Ksp (PbCl2) = 1.2*10-5 )

A

Yes it will occur. IP= 3.8*10^-4
