- Believing in God says it in the 10 commandments.
- Worshipping God- the greatest commandment.
- Says it in the creeds, catechisms and catholic teachings.
- God is omnipotent which means he’s all powerful.
The meaning for Christians of believing in God as the unity and the trinity.
One God in three people. Believing in one God (monotheism) 1. Father 2. Son 3. Holy Spirit.

Helps understand Gods presence.
In the Bible- Jesus’ baptism (God speaks and the Holy Spirit is present).
Belief in the Trinity- follows in apostolic tradition- must believe apostles.

The meaning of Christians believing in God as the father.
Believing this means that Christians should have a father- child relationship with God.
Shows that God has a relationship of love and care with his creation.
In ‘our father’ Christians learn God provides daily bread and protection from evil because he’s our father.
Because God is our father we should turn to him when we are in need.

If God had not been our father, he would not have sent Jesus to explain how Christians should live and save people from sin.

God created the universe and all things in it, so life has a meaning and purpose given by God.
God created the universe out of nothing so he is all powerful and the cause of all life.
As God created the universe, the universe must be good.
God created human beings in the image of himself, so humans are special.

The universe is not an accident. It was created by God who is good for a good purpose.
Life is sacred because God created it and what God creates must be holy, so we need to treat creation carefully and with respect.

The meaning of Christians believing that Jesus is the son of God.
Jesus is God incarnated. This means Jesus is a God on earth as a living human being, so in Jesus humans can see the nature of God.
As the son of God, Christians believe that Jesus was both fully human and fully divine.
As Gods son, Jesus had Gods powers on earth, which explains miracles.
Jesus’ death was to sacrifice for the sins of the world bringing Gods salvation and by rising from the dead. Gods son also brought eternal life.

Only the son of God could bring salvation of sin and give them the chance to enter heaven.
Gives Christians the chance to see the love shown by Gods son, leading them to share their beliefs with their neighbours.
Believing that Jesus is the son of God is shown in the catechisms and the creeds.
Only Gods son could institute the mass which brings Christ into lives today.
The meaning of Christians believing in the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is the means by which God communicates with humans, bringing Gods presence into the World.
The Holy Spirit inspired the bible so that’s it’s writings reveal the natures and will of God.
The Holy Spirit is how God helps the Church keep apostolic tradition and give true teachings in the magestrium.
The HS gives strength and love from God to all humans.
The importance of Christians believing in the HS.
It’s the third person of the Trinity and is God’s presence in the World.
Through baptism and reconciliation, it removes people’s sin allowing them to have eternal life.
It inspires the teachings of the church, so they should be obeyed as if their teachings from God.
It’s gifts enables Christians to live lives full of love, joy and peace, helping Christians live the lives Jesus wanted them to live.
The meaning of Christian beliefs about salvation from sin.
Sin is an action that breaks Gods law and makes it difficult to be in contact with God because sin separates a person from God.
Salvation means being saved from sin.
The death of Jesus was a sacrifice needed to bring salvation from sin. So Jesus is the savour of the world as he brought forgiveness and eternal life.
Catholics believe that salvation comes from the church and brought through receiving the sacraments and leading a Christian life.

Without salvation, a persons sin will send them to hell or purgatory after death.
It’s the way that Christians can have eternal life with God.
It’s the way that Christians became man. Salvation from sin was the purpose of life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
It’s the reason that the sacraments of baptism, reconciliation, confirmation, healing and the mass are important.
The meaning of loving God.
Going to weekly mass and praying every day.
Taking the other sacraments of the church.
Following the Christian life by following the teachings of the church.
Using tier talents and abilities in the service of God.

Jesus said that loving god is the greatest commandment. Christians believe that Jesus is Gods son and by following him we will revive eternal life.
By loving God, Christians are living the life God wanted them to.
Loving God is a way for Christians to thank God for his love. God showed his love by sacrificing his son to give us eternal life.
The church teaches that all believers should love God following the basis of Christian life.
How the love of God affects Christian lives.
Using their abilities and talents as god intends so that others benefit from them will affect a Christians choice of career, marriage partner and use of money ect.
Showing respect to gods creations will affect a Christians life because they will have to make sure the earth and it’s creations are cared for.
Following the rules set by God (the Ten Commandments and the sermon on the mount) is bound to have a big effect on Christian life’s.
Following a Christians vocation will have a huge effect on their lives if they are called to priesthood , the religious life or to serve the poor.
The meaning and importance of Christian teachings on love of others.

Second commandment- love your neighbour as you love yourself.
Christians love for their neighbour needs to be-
Strong as if it’s for themselves.
Is second or loving god.
Is what god wants from Christians.
Why it’s important-
It’s a commandment from Jesus.
Can lead to eternal life.

The Good Samaritan.
Synopsis-
A Jew was travelling and attacked by two robbers.
Two other Jews ignored him but a Samaritan of a different religion did help him.
Meaning-
Christians should show love to everyone.
Loving a neighbour can be the difference between life and death.
Loving your neighbour is what God wants.
Importance-
Is a teaching of Jesus.
Shows that loving your neighbour is not easy but is what Christians do.
It explains that your neighbour is anyone who is in need, whatever race of religion.

The parable of the sheep and goats.
Synopsis-
Final judgement god will separate us like a Shepard separates sheep and goats.
The sheep were the ones who fed Jesus when he was hungry, took him in when he was a stranger, gave a drink when he was thirsty ect. And will go to heaven.
The goats were the ones who did none of these things and will go to hell.
Meaning-
Christians should show love to everyone in need, because anyone in need could be Jesus.
By showing love for Christians your showing live for God.
God will judge people on their actions and how they treat others.
Importance:
Showing love to others is showing love to God.
To show love you care for others.
Showing love to others is rewarded by eternal life.
Love of God in a local area (parish)
Providing worship for God to show love for God in the celebration of mass.
Keeping the blessed sacrament in the tabernacle so people can show their love of God by adoring the body of Christ.
Offering their love to God though sacraments e.g. Baptism and confirmation.
Giving regular bible readings and homilies explaining those readings to the people so they can learn about god and their live for him.
Love for others in the local area (parish)
Making sure that a catholic grows up surrounded by people with the same beliefs but who also love them.
Supporting the local primary and secondary schools providing children’s liturgies, first confession classes and communion and confirmation to help children keep their baptismal promises.
Providing social facilities e.g. Youth clubs and mother and toddler groups.
Providing help for the needy through such groups as SVP and CAFOD.
