  1. Community acquired - strep pneumonia or haem influenza most common
  2. Hospital acquired - gram neg or staph aureus
  3. Aspiration Pneumonia
  4. Immunocompromised Pneumonia

A

fever, cyanosis, confusion, tachypnoea, tachycardia, hypotension, consolidation chest findings

CXR - 
O2 saturation - ABG if severe 
bloods -CBC, UEC, CRP, B.culture
Sputum culture and microscopy
Urine - for pneumococcal and legionella antigen 
PCR sputum, BAL if in ICU

management

A
Antibiotics - oral or IV 
O2 as required 
IVF 
Analgesia - if pleurisy 
repeat CXR if not improving - and in 6-8weeks 

Pneumococcal vaccine to at risk people
