How do till plains form?

Till plains form when ice sheets detatch from glacier and melts depositing all of the till.
The till is unsorted glacial material formed via erosion and weathering.

• It is a large boulder that is different rock to surrounding rock.
• Broken off by weathering and erosion then transported by glacier and deposited when glacier loses energy.

What is moraines?

Moraine is deposited eroded material transported by the glacier. There are various different types.

• Lateral moraine is material transported by the glacier.
• Medial moraine is when two lateral moraines meeting in the middle of a glacier and depositing.
• Ground moraine is moraine carried under the glacier and is sorted from abrasion.
• Recessional moraine is at the end of the glacier, it is pushed forward by the glacier and stay in place when the glacier retreats.
• Terminal moraine is deposited at the snout of a glacier on the valley floor.

How is a drumlin formed?

• When a glacier hits an obstacle that cannot be eroded, deposition from underneath the glacier builds up behind the obstacle.
• The glacier moves over the large mound and drags excess deposition over other side.
• This causes a tear drop shape with a long, tapered edge.
  The blunt end is called the stoss side, the tapered end is called the lee side.
