What is the difference between a band 6 and a band 7?

A
  • Increased clinical mileage with complex patients
  • Buck stops with you as a band 7
  • ESPs and APPs are usually the ones to turn to when you are presented with a problem, however band 7s have a bigger clinical presence, are more freely available and also more approachable.
  • Highly confident with Red flags and urgent problem pathways
  • Higher level of responsibility: leadership, research, audit, service development
  • You are a team leader so have more people management
  • Day to day decisions fall to you
  • Engage in discussions with and develop relationships with people you may have previously found daunting (consultants)
  • Reduced support
  • Increased departmental presence
  • Specialised Ax and Rx skills
