10.2 Flashcards
(14 cards)
What is the order of mitosis stages?
Prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, cytokinesis
What happens in prophase?
DNA clumps.
What happens in metaphase?
Spindle fibers link to DNA in the middle.
What happens in anaphase?
Pulls strands apart.
What happens in telophase?
Starts to form into 2 cells.
What happens in cytokinesis?
2 cells are made.
What causes specialized cells to be different from each other?
They make different types/amounts of protein.
Compare the daughter cells to the parent cell.
They’re identical.
Compare the daughter cells.
They’re identical.
What is the point of connection of sister chromatids called?
Centromere.
What is a stem cell?
A cell that does not have a specific function.
What do multipotent stem cells do?
Produce cells based on their type.
What do pluripotent stem cells do?
Can grow into any type of cell.
What do induced pluripotent stem cells do?
Can be changed to any type.
