it has been shown that we look to our environment and previous cognitions for explanations for physical arousal

participants given same instructions in lab - suproxin to test effect of vitamin supplements on vision, given epinephrine except placebo, split into informed, misinformed, ignorant, informed told real effects (heart racing, shaking, sweating), misinformed told fake (itching, numbness, headache), ignorant told no effect, further split into euphoria and anger (no misinformed in anger), euphoria got injection, experimenter left room, stooge waited few mins then did routine (playing with hula hoop, throwing paper, asking others to join), in anger, told to wait 20 mins and complete questionnaire, stooge made increasingly angry comments (to hell with this, im done), pulse checked, completed self reports, debriefing
