A

Sing and match the given pitch.
Tune from the bottom up. Start lower and move up the pitch.
It is helpful to be able to sing intervals and match pitch.

How to do a roll on timpani

A
  • the lower the pitch, the slower the roll; faster rolls for higher pitches and higher drums
  • roll 3-4 inches from the side of the drum
  • single stroke

A

When the tempo is too fast to cross-stick, use double-sticking.
