How does the fire detection system work?
Its is a close loop system connect to a responder. The Line is filled with helium, the pressure inside the line will increase when it is heated. when the pressure crossed a certain threshold it will active the warning devices in the cockpit
How many loops does the aircraft have?
6
How many smoke detectors does the aircraft have?
4
Pax – 1 and 2 are in the main cabin, 3 is in the lavatory and 4 is the baggage compartment
cargo – all 4 are in the cargo hold
How do the smoke detectors work?
Photoelectric detection
if they are set off they will reset themselves
What is used to extinguish fires?
6.5lbs bottle of HALON
How many bottles of HALON are on board?
1 in the APU
1 in each wing root
for Pax aircraft there are 2 bottle in the baggage compartment
What is the red blowout disc for?
to prevent the system from over pressurizing and doing damage to the system. acts as relief valve
Can you shoot both bottles of HALON into one engine?
Yes
What happen when you Squeeze and pull the T-Handle?
1) fuel shutoff
2) Hydraulic shutoff
3) Bleed Shutoff
4) engine air inlet deice system closes
5) Auto feather
6) Arm squibs
What is class C smoke detection?
Gives an indication on the panel that there is smoke in the baggage compartment on pax aircraft. There are 2 HALON bottle. the first one is an instant release of all the HALON to put the fire out. the second bottle is slow release to keep the fire suppressed. it will last for 45min-1hour from the time of the button press
How many loops fire detection loops are in each engine?
3, engine accessories, wheel well, tail pipe
