Q

why test muscular fitness?

A
  • it reduces all cause mortality risk beyond what is observed w/ aerobic only Exercise

Q

tests of muscular strength

A
  • can be measured statically (like isometric) or dynamic (like range of motion)
  • expressed as resistance overcome (kg or pounds)
  • example: static muscle strength test: Handgrip Dynamometer: can predict mortality, and used more in older individuals

Q

dynamic muscle strength test

A

1-RM Testing

  • maximal resistance moved through full ROM w/ good posture
  • 5-RM and 10-RM tests are also valid for measuring maximal muscle strength
