Physical Activity Guidelines

A

less than 12 mths - 30 mins tummy time
1-2 yrs - at least 3 hrs energetic play
3-5 yrs - min 3hrs per day, with 1hr energetic
5-17 yrs - min 1 hour moderate/vigorous activity per day, aerobic based

Exercise Prescription Principles

A

FITT
Aerobic Exercise
- moderate, able to exercise and talk at the same time
Strength
- weight bearing mainly
- add load via objects if need
- make sure exercises are developmentally appropriate
I - 40-85% HR max
F - depends on their attention span, make it fun!
