What are the aims of sectional pressure groups?

A

Represent the interests of a particular section of society

They often represent groups of people or professions eg law society

What are the aims of causal pressure groups?

A

Promote a particular cause which once has been achieved they disband
(greenpeace, amnesty international and ASH)

Advantages:

A

They’re larger so they can reach a higher number of people (the national trust)
parliament are then under pressure from more people
they campaign for equal rights (same sex couples)
environmental groups force parliament to make changes (single use plastic)
