Respiratory depression
Current asthma 
Respiratory tract burns
Known addiction to opioids
Acute alcoholism
Patients on monoamine oxidase inhibitors

Primary emergency indications

A
  1. Pain relief
  2. Sedation to maintain intubation
  3. Sedation facilitate intubation (where fentanyl is not appropriiate for RSI - modified or paediatric IFS)

A

Upto 5mg at 5 minute intervals

Drawn up
9ml saline and 1ml morphine
10mg in 10ml
5mg in 5ml of solution

ALS to consult at 20mg

Repeat 5mg after 15 minutes if required (ONCE ONLY)
