Relative clause

A

The part of a sentence which
describes a noun.

In Japanese, a relative clause always comes directly in front of the noun which it explains.

What are the rules of relative clauses?

A
  1. A relative clause must end with PLAIN FORM just before the noun.
    e. g きのうよんだ本….
  2. There is no は particle in a relative clause. The topic marker は is replaced by が.
    e. g 父がよんでいる本は私のです。
