Q

Net Ionic Equation: definition and example.

A

Only the reacting elements.
Zn(s)+2H+(aq)→H2+(g)+Zn2+(aq)
when writing the net ionic equation the 6 strong acids ionize in water all other acids do not ionize they remain intact including their (aq) state.

Q

Writing Net Ionic Equations

What are the rules for writing net ionic equations?

A
  • Ionic substances which are soluble dissociate and are written in an ionic form with ions in (aq) state.
  • Molecules are never put into ions(no ions)
  • Acids are always soluble but only strong acids ionize 100%. The other acids are left in molecular form.
