10.7 Flashcards
(56 cards)
Maintenance programmes and schedules outlines a list of tasks with intervals in terms of what?
-Flight days
-Calendar days
-Flight cycles
Maintenance program intervals are determined based on what?
-Hard time
-On-condtion
-Condtion monitoring criteria
Operator schedules are either?
-Block (pyramid)
-Equalised (progressive)
What is block maintenance?
When tasks are grouped up and multiplied in intervals. It is used for long haul carriers when the aircraft is on ground
What are the benefits of block (pyramid)?
-Consistent preparation
-Relative stable workload
-Fixed content
-Efficient planning and control
What are the negatives of block (pyramid)?
-Large gaps between checks leading to uneven workloads
-Aircraft might be out of service
What is equalised maintenance?
Shorter and equally sized checks done frequently. It is suitable for short haul, where minimal downtime is required, so overnight
What are benefits of equalised system?
-More consistent workload
-Balance of resources
What are the disadvantages of equalised system?
-Additional costs
-Challenges of facing emergent work
What is the A-check?
-Every 500-800 flight hours
-200-400 flight cycles
-20-50 man hours
-Done overnight
-Can be delayed by the operator if predetermined conditions are met
What is the B-check?
-Every 4-6 months
-150 man hours
What is the C-check?
-Every 20 to 24 months
-1-2 weeks (6000) man hours
What is the D check?
-Heavy maintenance visit
-Every 5 years
-Requires strip and inspection
-Requires two months (50000 man hours)
-Average aircraft does 2-3 of these in their lifetime
What are SB’s?
Improvements that are suggested and circulated to operators. It is under the discretion of operators to use them or not
What must SB’s include on compliance recommendation?
-The SB’s must be accomplished
-SB’s recommended to be accomplished to avoid significant disruptions
-SB’s introduce improvements
-SB’s for convenience
Can an SB be cancelled?
No
Can a person operate an aircraft with an AD?
No unless iaw the AD
What must SB’s not cover?
-Routine recommended inspections/checks
-Standard repairs
-Revisions to maintenance practices or workshop procedures
What are alert SB’s?
-Matters requiring urgent attention
-Limited generally to items affecting safety
-Extreme urgency with compliance
-Must contain an SB number
What are standard SB’s?
Issued when an alert SB is not required
What are Engine Conversion SB’s?
Issues with the information necessary to convert engine models from one designation level to another
What can SB’s be written for?
In-service units or equipment
What is included in the SB title?
Contains the chapter name, keyword and a brief statement of work involved
What does the body of an SB contain?
-Planning information
-Material information
-Accomplishment instructions and optional appendices
