PROCEDURE IN CASE OF FAILED / ABORTED START

CRANKING

  1. Engine starting selector - OFF
  2. Emergency fuel shut-off lever - FORWARD
  3. Ng - CHECK below 10%
  4. [FUEL PUMP] - ON
  5. [CRANK] - PRESS for 20 sec. max
  6. [FUEL PUMP] - OFF

When starting the engine, the starter time is the time between selecting the engine starting selector to ON and the engine igniting.

When performing an engine ventilation, the starter time is the duration that the [CRANK] is pressed.

To prevent starter overheat damage, limit starter time to the following:

    • 30 seconds ON - 60 seconds OFF
    • 30 seconds ON - 60 seconds OFF
    • 30 seconds ON - 30 minutes OFF

The 30 minutes cooling period is required before beginning another starting cycle

  • The engine health check is performed in level flight MCP, heating and demisting system OFF.
  • Prefer an altitude where the engine is operating close to the N1 MCP limit.
  • Stabilize level flight MCP for at least 2 min. before initiating the engine health check.
  • Read the results displayed on VEMD after the end of the procedure.
  • The engine health check is satisfactory if:
  • TRQ MARGIN / TOT is above 0%, “GOOD” displayed, and
  • TRQ MARGIN / N1 is above 0%,“GOOD” displayed
