A product can become obsolete because there is little or no demand for it, it’s market may have fallen out of favour with it

Refers to the way materials can be layered together increase their torsional, compressive and shear strength properties

In the case of woods - each layer’s woods grain should be stacked at 90 degrees to the previous layer - increases surface area for an adhesive to grip to
This also causes the beam to resist the natural tendency to straighten

Wooden laminates can be steamed, bent around a jig and then allowed to dry
Allows complex shapes
Bent more easily than natural wood or other boards
