Good office and Mediation

  1. Involvement of a 3rd party ( individual, country or institution)
  2. Good office- place and suggestions. Influence but no active role
  3. Mediation- 3 rd party active role - eg: draft an agreement
    Good office may end up as mediation
  4. Rules found in the hague convention
    - signatories can provide go and mediation during hostilities and this shouldn’t be regarded as an unfriendly act by either of the contending parties
    - not binding
