Q

Darkness

A

the darkness becomes the softest of black velvets illuminated by heaven-spun stars.

As the blackness comes I calmly watch myself be erased, eyes open and seeing nothing at all, the only evidence of my being is the steady thump of my heart and the cool air in my lungs.

Darkness comes as strong protective arms, holding us close until the promised dawn. Within it we are as children once more, safe in shields of duvet. Yet in this place so open to the skies, resting in the cricket’s lullaby, our eyes are as bright as the constellations above; our stardust atoms seeking the stars until they can bathe in the light of the sun.

Q

Happy

A

As flowers open, happiness blooms in emotional warmth
sitting in my synapses for a moment and resetting my mood to sunny days ahead.
The echoes of our summer days remain as flowers immune to winter chills

actions

A

Pain darkened her vision
She was choking on her own spit, blind with pain and panic.
She kept running anyway, up and down the swells of land, falling and climbing again to her feet, swallowing her snot
Plunging over the fence, toppling, rolling on her shoulder then hauling herself again to her feet
Sheltered in the shadows
She tripped and slid down the embankment, through a mulch of rotting tree bark
Her terror turned every second into a swampy hour, a long agony of waiting
Clipped tone (quick and dismissive)
Her blood was singing through her veins, a determined melody of rebellion
Her heart gave an uneven throb inside her chest
He moved with intense trepidation
A wave of dizziness passed through her along with a terrible mixture of horror and relief and amazement.
He had stiffened as if he had been shocked with electricity
His eyes widened with confusion
The words were steady and simple, spoken without a trace of anything held back

Q

cold

A

In this cold we are the flames, the furnace and the fuel

Our breath rises with a jocund vibe to greet the wintry cloud

The cold has brought the world of our street to an icy beauty, a white sparkle as fine as any crystal.
In this cold the Earth is so very pretty in her crystal-white gown.

The ice had a diamond glow, as if born to reflect sunlight.

Q

heat

A

Hot wind came to whisper the story of summer, the same tale now as that in eons passed.

Green flags in a bonny hot wind were the sentry palms. I always saw them as a salute to the sea, a welcoming of green after such an expanse of blue.

On this hot day I am ambient to the air, as if I have merged with the nature that surrounds.

beautiful sky

A

Beautiful sky
Magnificent, heavenly light filtered through the wispy clouds that hung on a heavenly backdrop.
The sky harmonized with an expanse of sweet calm air.
The sky was a myriad of swirling colors
Peaceful, a serenity of soft and silky clouds glided across the expanse of light blue
Clouds were given a rosy glow by the setting sun
The sun rose in a pool of crimson and gold, spilling light all over the land and the white clouds
the sun setting behind the mountain in a sea of liquid gold.
A sky of mackerel clouds, crimson and amber-tinted.
As the sunset, the few thin strips of clouds on the horizon turned shimmering gold
The sun shone brilliantly and the water in the pond glittered invitingly.
A golden glow spread across the sky as the sun chased the dark clouds away.
The whole landscape was bathed in the warm glow of the rising sun.
Fresh air filled my lungs and I felt refreshed and exhilarated.
The breathtaking scenery captivated everyone.
The pond was bathed in a golden hue by the gentle sunlight and the water was as clear as crystal.
The sunlit clouds drifted across a clear blue sky.
The sun rose in a pool of crimson and gold, spilling light all over the land and the white clouds.
The sky was filled with light brushstrokes of white clouds
The sky above the ocean was streaked with the pink and rose of sun set

setting

A

Setting
The air smelled like moisture, pulped leaves and decay
Light flared. Brightness to fill the room.
The room was lit in a pinkish gold tinge.
The sea glimmered; the surface dancing flecks of gold.
The sea-softened air
Sirenic - Melodious, tempting (adjective)
“labyrinthine streets and alleys”
Raindrops iridescent from the low of sun
The flowers grow in verdant strength and the brightest petalled hue.
White heaven-bound birds were as brilliant rays from wind-dappled sea-water; their brightness amid otherwise infinite blue, gliding as free souls. In each wing-given arc they were the tips of a conductor’s wand, a music for both eyes and soul, bringing a wave of sweet earthly joy
It was one of those baby-blue skies, not the psychedelic candy-blue nor the washed out grey so characteristic of wintry mornings. The clouds were as puffs of radiant joy, ready to disperse into the wind, to travel our Earth. I watched them eddy, pure reflected rays dappled and swirling with sky, until all that remained was that perfect baby-blue, the same hue as before, as if inviting those born of wing to ride warm thermal air heaven-bound.

Q

night

A

The moon was abnormally large and it bathed the earth with its luminous glow
A callous night, a lucid moon, Heaven’s eyes shine in the black as a divine watchful mother.
The stars shone as sugar poured over a deep black marble, they were the promise of life in the darkness, a sense of warmth springing from the cold
As night fell the blue haze of day lifted to reveal the stars
It is the most beautiful art, alive with in raw energy, a song for the eyes. At times I felt as if I could feel it vibrating somehow, whispering in a way the ears cannot hear.

Q

bad weather

A

The morning was cold and wet with a brisk wind sweeping the rain across the land.
A curtain of rain beat down from the heavens.
Rain cascaded down like a waterfall
Chilly gusts of wind and rain
Dark clouds rolling in
Cold water seeps into my shoes, stealing the heat from my soles just as fast as the wind steals from my face. My face is soaked, the drops coming together to run into my eyes and drip from my chin. My heat has run to my core to shelter and hoard the warmth that remains. For this long road, in this wintry storm, the frigid downpour and the icy puddles are my nemeses.
As the tundra becomes a new white page, so has this winter storm renewed God’s land.
The winter storm came as all storms must, not to care with the gentle hand of a mother, yet to rip and tear what could not stand its brutal onslaught - to fell the old trees, to remove the rot, and to put it all on an icy standby mode.

Q

Brightness

A

It was the sort of brightness that kindled something beautiful within, and at the same time stirred a connection with the nature around. It was one of those days the soul was so vibrant it began to merge with every living thing, radiating, resonating, elevating…

The brightness of the day brought a new vivid essence to the hues of the ordinary.

Q

ominous/scary

A

The sky above was full of tumultuous, dark, ragged clouds.
clouds, ominous and black, drifted over the mountain and released a sudden shower.
Thunder came marching from far away with increasing tread.
Lightning and thunder raged with fury.
A flash of forked lightning and a great clap of thunder came close upon each other.
A bolt of lightning tore across the sky and a peal of thunder followed.
The sky became obscured by a leaden veil
