3. Extrusion based additive processes Flashcards

1
Q

Fused deposition modelling (FDM)

A

Principle: heated nozzle liquifies polymer and lays line which consolidate by liquid phase bonding, mostly two nozzles, build and support material

ABS most suited

2
Q

Dis/Advantages of FDM

A

simple, clean, safe operation
custom parts
patterns for vacuum casting

almost exclusively for ABS and PLA
less accurate than SLA
low manufacturing speed
anisotropy of part properties
