PRL Training

important aspect of low vision rehab for patients with scotomas (dark spots due to macular degeneration)

teaches people to use intact vision to look around scotomas focus on top, sides, bottom of object. training progresses from static, to tracking to utilizing PRL during saccadic eye movements.

3. illuminated magnifiers (increase surface light)
4. convex lenses (objects larger) Concave lenses (objects smaller)
5. Electronic Magnification (for severe visual impairment) examples are closed circuit television.
6. prisms (shift images into veiwing area) indicated after neurological injury resulting in vision field deficits.
