Q

Explain lytic cycle

A
  • bacteriophage interacts with bacterial surface receptors (lipopolysccharides)
  • phages tail sheath contracts, injecting genetic material into cell
  • virus hijacks cell to synthesize necessary components for assembly of a new virus
  • the cell then lyses when it gets too full
