  • Following all SOP’s
  • Consistent and ongoing, task, tactical, and strategic level training
  • Always operating in the correct strategy
  • Performing 360s (with a TIC) whenever possible
  • Managing air supplies and max entry depths
  • Always avoiding working directly above a working fire
  • Always being attached to a hoseline in IDLH (or possible IDLH)
  • Avoid splitting crews in IDLH (supervisors need to supervise)
  • Putting water on the fire as quickly and as safely as possible
