1
Q

B: Explain two things that Catholics believe about the Trinity. (4)

A

First, Catholics believe that the Trinity means that there is one God in three persons. There is one substance (God) in three persons - DFather, Son and Holy Spirit.
Second, they believe that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all God, but they are not the same as one another. The Father is not the Son, and the Son is not the Father. The Father is not the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is not the Father. The Son is not the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is not the Son.

Q

B: Explain two ways that the Trinity is reflected in Catholic worship. (4)

A

First, every Mass is full of mentions of the Trinity. For example, Mass begins with the sign of the cross - “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
Secondly, when a person is baptised, the water is poured (or they are submerged) in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Q

B Explain two reasons why God the Father is important to Catholics. (4)

A

First, Father is important because it conveys the idea that God is Creator. God created everything and sustains it in existence.
Secondly, Father also suggests that God cares for us and all creation. One of the primary roles of a father is to care for his children, hence the notion of God as Father.
