11. Water and Carbon Biogeochemical cycles Flashcards
(12 cards)
What is Biogeochemical cycles?
organisms obtain water and nutrients. this allow the organism to work, grow and reproduce. it is influenced by biological, geological and chemical interactions
How does nutrients recycled
Nutrients are cycled through the biotic and abiotic components of ecosystems
What does the water cycle required?
all organisms on earth. it also involved in chemical reactions such as photosynthesis and cellular respiration
what does water cycle shows?
it shows the continuous movement of water between the oceans, fresh water, ice, ground water and the atomsphere
List the water cycle process to 1 - 5
Evaporation, Transpiration, condensation, precipitation, infiltration, surface runoff
What is condensation?
Molecules of water condense forming clouds
How affect is human impact?
Humans are impacting the water cycle by disrupting the normal flow of water
What are the outcomes of human impacting to the water cycle?
increase global temperatures. As the temperature increases, the amount of evaporation will increase, which causes more movement of water in the atmosphere
How does carbon cycle be found?
Carbon is found in many compounds in organisms like DNA, RNA, proteins, carbohydrates, chlorophyll, ATP and lipids
How plants be obtain by carbon?
Plants obtain carbon from the atmosphere by taking in carbon dioxide through the stomata
how is the carbon dioxide being converted?
It is converted into glucose and other compounds through photosynthesis. this glucose is used throughtout the food chain by producers and consumers alike
what did human impacts
extra carbon dioxide in the atomsphere cause the sun’s rays to be trapped inside out atomsphere rather than reflecting back into space. this caused increase in the global temperture
