uterine fibroids - very common + frequently multiple, benign (NOT precursor for leiomyosarcoma)

estrogen/progesterone dependent

S/S: pain, dysuria, abnormal bleeding, fertility issues

A

estrogen driven excessive proliferation

Causes: unopposed estrogen (obesity, HRT, nullparity, early menarche, late menopause)

Can lead to development of endometrial polyps

S/S: abnormal bleeding

Can lead to endometrioid cancer
