A

A. 5+ of the following symptoms for 2 weeks. At least one symptom must be 1 or 2

  1. Depressed mood most of the time (sad, empty, hopeless, irritable - esp children and adolescents)
  2. Loss of interest or pleasure
  3. Weight loss or gain, changes in appetite
  4. Insomnia/hypersomnia
  5. Psychomotor agitation/retardation
  6. Fatigue
  7. Feelings of worthlessness or inappropriate guilt
  8. Trouble concentrating/indecisiveness
  9. Suicidality

Severity: 
mild: 2 symptoms
moderate: 3 symptoms
moderate-severe: 4-5 symptoms
severe: 4-5 symptoms + motor agitation
