Quality Assurance:

A

Planned activities that ensure quality requirements are being
fulfilled. QA uses indicators to identify level of quality
(eg turn-around-times, number of unacceptable samples etc)
and goes beyond QC

Quality Control:

A

Activities that ensure quality of the product. In the lab,
results are our product, so QC ensures reagents, equipment,
procedure (including personnel etc) is working to generate a
quality result.
