method of fasting?

A

-obligatory in Ramadan
+“O you who believe fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, so that you may learn self-restraint”
-before dawn to sunset + niyat for fast

-imsak, (abstaining from food, drink, smoking & sexual intercourse)
-behaviour during fasting
+Prophet(SAW): “everything has the best season and the best season for the Quran is Ramadan”
+Prophet(SAW): “When the month of Ramadan comes, the doors of heaven have been opened and the doors of hell closed and the devils chained”

-break fast at sunset/iftar reciting:
+“O Allah! I fasted for you and I believe in you and I put my trust in you, and with the sustenance, you have given me, I now break the fast”

  • last 5 odd nights of Ramadan is the night of power (laylat ul Qadr)
  • the reward for prayer is better than the prayer of 1000 months

-mention exemption & punishment for intentional breaking

Exemption from fasting?

A

must make up for the fast, day by day or by other means
-women on menstruation, and during pregnancy/breastfeeding
-sick who will get worse if they fast
-old and feeble, must give fidya (feed a poor person twice a day/ pay for their food)
-travelers
exempted
-children below puberty
-insane people
