What is Eysenck’s theory?

A
  • Psychological explanation - looks at a social + psychological influences.
  • Personality varies along 3 dimensions - N, E and P.
  • Suggests all personalities are made up of certain traits and extent to which you have those traits determines your personality.

What is extroversion?

A

An extravert is sociable, impulsive, expressive and risk taking. At the other end of the continuum, an introvert acts in the opposite way being happy in their own company and more cautious.

What is neuroticism?

A

An individual who scores high on N scale will exhibit such behaviours such as nervousness, anxiety and obsessiveness. The opposite end of the spectrum is described as ‘stable’ and they would have a calm demeanour and a carefree attitude.
