Q

How do you determine if table is direct variation, inverse variation or neither?

A

Direct Variation - when x grows, y also grows; xy = same k for every row of table

Inverse Variation - when x grows, y shrinks; y/x = same k for every row of table

Neither - xy ≠ same k and y/x ≠ same k for every row

Q

How do you find holes?

A

If both the numerator and denominator have a common number(x+3/x+3) the hole is at that number

Q

How do you find the horizontal asymptote?

A

If degree of numerator > degree of denominator, horizontal asymptote is y = 0

If degree of denominator > degree of numerator, there is no horizontal asymptote

If degree of numerator = degree of denominator, asymptote is number multiplying to x on numerator.
