Q

Autoimmune disease : etiology and pathogenesis , and examples of the diseases

A

-Autoimmune diseases develop when immune system cells initiate a self destructive immune response
-—- Etiology and pathogenesis
- Autoreactive lymphocyte clones. Peripheral lymphoid tissues of a healthy organism contain populations of T- and B-lymphocytes with antigen recognize
By the the following mechanism
1- molecular mimicry : sequence or structural resemblance of the molecule of the host and the pathogen
2- microbial and viral supreantigen : induces lymphocytes polyclonal activation
3- tissue destruction : by such pathogens like bacteria and virus etc , may result in self-antigen uptake by actives DCs
4-MHC alleles are associated with autoimmune disease: the association can be explained by the fact that MHC present all the antigen for T-lymphocytes recognition
5- Apoptosis : in some diseases inflammation, may not be related in certain antigen but rather to disorders of lymphocytes
6- nosologic unites : rather obvious that infaction most likely viral did trigger there development
- the autoimmune disease can be classified as systemic and non- systemic ( organ specific)
—- Example of the disease
1- Rheumatoid arthritis
2-psoriasis
3-scleroderma
4- systemic lupus erythematosus
