Catholics view the creation story as a metaphor. It teaches Catholics of the power of God, but they believe that the world was caused/created by the Big Bang. It is God who brings it about. Furthermore creation teaches Catholics of the need of God and how we turn away from God.

Many traditional protestants believe that the Bible is the Word of God, everything in it is true. Therefore the world was made in 6 days. The Big Bang and Evolution is not accepted.

• It also means that Catholics will feel that their lives have a purpose.

Divergent beliefs of life after death

• Non-Catholics do not believe in purgatory as it is not in the Bible
• Some protestants, mainly evangelicals, believe that the soul and the body remain in the grave until the last day, and then those who have rejected God’s love go to hell, and those who believe and lived good lives go to heaven.
• Many Christians believe that the soul goes to heaven or hell immediately after death, but is then united with the body on the last day.
• Some Christians do not believe in hell whatsoever as it goes against a benevolent God, and we should learn from our earthly mistakes.
