Q

What is IRIS

A

Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome is disease or pathogen specific inflammatory response that occur after initiation of of ARV in treatment naive patients or after re initiation or after a change to a more effective regimen in patients that are yet to achieve viral suppression
Also known as
Immune restoration disease
Can be paradoxical or unmasking
Paradoxical is worsening of previously diagnosed disease condition after ARV initiation
Unmasking is occurrence of previously undiagnosed disease condition after initiation
