CRD Startup Flashcards

1
Q

What is the CRD Pump Amperage limitation and what can cause exceeding this?

A

Max Pump Current limit is 39amps
Can be caused by Runout from initially charging accumulators, maximized drive pressure or Rx injection, pump seizure, and improper valve position

Q

What CRD component ensures Pp amperage will not exceed amperage limits on scram? What is amp limit?

A

Amp limit is 39A.

2(3)-0301-25 is throttled (Downstream of RO on charging water header).

Q

Why must RPS be reset prior to starting CRD and charging accumulators?

A

Due to valve lineup following a scram, all water will be directed to SDV, not the accumulators.

Q

What is normal CRD Cooling water pressure? what happens if it exceeds this?

A

18-37psid. If it exceeds 35psid, then control rods may not settle normally and if it exceeds 60psid, then control rod insertion may occur
