MASTER CAUTION IRS FAULT

A

An IRS fault has occured or the present position is incorrect.

If the FAULT light is illuminated on the ground without the ALIGN light…DO NOT TAKEOFF

Inflight

  • Autopilot …disengage
  • Select the operating IRS (both on L or both on R)
  • Auto throttle…disengage

AUTOPILOTS CANNOT BE ENGAGED

MASTER CAUTION IRS ON DC

A

IRS AC power has failed

The left IRS will continue will continue to operate as long as DC power is available

The right IRS will only operate for 5 minutes

A

The IRS backup DC power is failed.

The IRS is operating normally on AC power.

If BOTH IRS lights are illuminated the battery is nearly discharged or the switched hot battery bus is not powered.

FMC DISAGREE - VERTICAL

A

The left and right FMC target airspeeds or paths disagree, the FMC will attempt to correct the difference, most likely when crossing a waypoint with an altitude constraint.
If the disagreement remains entering an approach phase the MSG will change to FMC DISAGREE

A

VTK along with MAP failure flags displayed on one or both NDs

LNAV/VNAV may disengage

BOTH FMCs FAILED
NO FMC data on the CAPT and FO NDs MAP and NO FMC data on either CDUs
-resume conventional navigation
-when preparing for the approach use the SPD REF selector

LEFT FMC FAILED
NO FMC data on the CAPT ND and no FMC data on BOTH CDUs
-FMC both on L or Both on R

RIGHT FMC FAILED
No FMC data on the FO ND, MSG light is illuminated and SINGLE FMC OPERATION scratchpad message is shown.
-FMC both on L or both on R

A

During an approach GO AROUND unless suitable visual references can be established and maintained.

A

Announce the ED, PF “attention cabin crew! Emergency descent.”
Passenger signs….on
without delay, descend to the LSALT or 10000ft
Engine start switches (both)….CONT
Thrust levers (both)…. reduce to min or as needed for anti ice
Speedbrake…FLIGHT DETENT
Set target speed to Mmo/Vmo

after memory items have been completed

  • turn on all external lights
  • notify ATC
  • squark 7700
  • check LSALT

A

If window is ARCING

  • window heat OFF, max 250 below 10000
  • pull both WINDSHIELD AIR controls

If window is cracked or shattered

  • Don seatbelts and shoulder harnesses
  • window heat OFF, max 250 below 10000-if damage is OUTER pane, continue normal ops
    • if damage is INNER pane
      - OXY masks ON
      - STOP climb (if above MSA) and or descend to depressurize the airplane

CABIN TEMPERATURE HOT

A

Flight deck temperature is too high

  • trim air OFF
    • if still to warm, L PACK off
      • if still to warm, descend, open FFD, min 290kts

If passenger cabin is too high

  • trim air OFF
  • if still too warm, R PACK off
    • if still too warm, descend and increase min 290kts

BOTH wing body overheat illuminated
TRIM AIR off

RIGHT WING BODY OVERHEAT
-right PACK off

if light extinguishes EOC if light remains TRIM AIR OFF
LEFT WING BODY OVERHEAT
-left PACK off
-No. 1 bleed OFF
if light stays illuminated 
next steps to check if APU duct or keel beam overheat
