Specific purpose softwares - designed for only one specific task (example: Photo Booth)
What is an operating system- what does it do?
An operating system is a type of software that helps the computer to run and keep working. It allows different kinds of software, including application software, to interact with the hardware. It is an essential part of a computer, a computer does not exist without it.
What are three tasks performed by the operating system?
- manages use of memory
- provides user interface
- opens, closes, saves and deletes files
What are some examples of operating systems?
Windows, iOS, Linux, Android, macOS…
