• Consider: Private life discretion; Confidentiality

it demands totally appropriate behaviour &
responses in all instances

Care?

A

A duty imposed by the law to take care to
minimise the risk of harm to another.

Requires that reasonable steps be taken by
staff to protect students from risks that are
reasonably foreseeable

and/or to prevent students

others, or damaging property.

practice?

A

• Familiarise yourself with school policies
• Always verbally intervene if you see a dangerous
situation
• Never detain a child on his/her own. Having other
witnesses on hand is a sound precaution
• Provide adequate instructions to students
• Do not transport students in your own vehicle
• If in doubt, ask
