High fever for at least 3 weeks
Not necessarily due to infection (fevers also caused by neoplasms and CT diseases)

Minimum essential investigations for PUO
A
FULL HISTORY
3x blood culture sets
Blood tests (FBC, ESR, CRP, LFTs, bone profile etc)
HIV test!
Culture urine and sputum
CHEST X RAY!

Management of PUO?
A
Watch and wait if patietn is stable
Empirical abx in unstable patients
