  1. CO2 combines with RuBP> 2x GP (3C each), catalysed by enzyme rubisco
  2. GP reduced > TP, using energy from ATP & accepting H from NADPH
  3. some of TP converted > hexose sugar; rest used to regenerate RuBP

Stages of LDR (4+3+5)

A
  1. Chlorophyll absorbs light energy
  2. This excites electrons (leading to photoionisation)
  3. Photolysis of water > 1/2 O2, 2H+, 2e-
    • H+ converts NADP> NADPH
    • e- passed along EC proteins
    • o used in r/ leaves a waste
  4. Chemiosmosis=
    • e- move along series of p embedded in T membrane, releasing energy
    • energy used to AT protons across chloroplast membrane
    • Electrochemical gradient created
    • Protons move through ATP synthase, resulting in ATP production
    • NADP reduced by e- & H+ > NADPH
