Q

Matching Rule

A
  • The matching criteria to identify duplicate records
  • Consists of fields assembled into an equation (ex: First Name AND Last Name AND Title AND Account)
  • A rule also includes criteria that determine how broadly a match is defined for each field
  • When this runs and compares 2 records, if fields in both records match the equation and meet the criteria, the records are identified as duplicates
  • Salesforce comes with three of these types of rules:
    1. ) One for business accounts
    2. ) One for contacts and leads
    3. ) One for person accounts
  • Creating other matching rules is possible and easy to do
