Infection of ‘Toxoplasma gondii’ protozoa

Infects via GI tract. Contact from raw meat or cat faecaes

The oocysts release trophozoites which migrate round body —> eye, brain, muscle

Usually asymptomatic unless immunocompromised

Usually asymptomatic
Or mild, resembling infectious mononucleosis: fever, malaise, lymphadenopathy
Could be severe: menigoencephalitis, myocarditis
