Q

Attitude- heading reference system

A
  • Gyros - angular velocities per each axis
  • Newton’s 1st law : a body remains in motion unless the body is acted upon by an external force
  • In this case, vibrating quartz tends to stay in vibrating plane
  • Able to detect transition changes of roll, pitch & yaw
  • Accelerometers - change of linear velocities per each axis
  • Detects forces when roll and pitch are established
  • Initial attitude reference (level)
  • Inclinometer information

Q

Air Data/Attitude/Heading Reference System (ADAHRS)

A
  • Air Data
  • Uses digitized Ram & Static Air pressures with OAT
  • Magnetometer
  • Magnetic Heading information
  • Three axis solid state gyro and accelerometer system
  • Three Axis – Pitch, Bank, Roll
  • Gyros - angular velocities per each axis
  • Accelerometers – change of linear velocities per each axis

Q

Multifunction Displays (MFDs)

A
Provides in general
•Moving maps
•Checklists
•System status
•Flight plan information
•Nearest functions
Limitations
•In general you can only use the MFD as a reference (not primary)
•Refer to the aircrafts specific POH for more information
