Fully insured qualifies the individual for all SS benefits

40 quarters of work qualifies one as fully insured

Currently insured, or 20 quarters, qualifies the individual for limited benefits

The blackout period is the period of time in which a survivor no longer qualifies for a survivor benefit and is not old enough for retirement benefits

Benefits will end when the youngest dependent child reaches 16
