- focused on anus like pooing
- anally retentive - scared of using toilet
- anally repulsive- obsessed with using toilet.

- what happens to boys and girls during that stage

A

phallic
3years- 6years
focus on penis
- boys are attracted to their mother and envy their father - Oedipus complex and have castration anxiety that their dad might overpower them and remove their penis.
- girls become angry that they don’t have penis, so they become angry at their mother because they think they took their penis and become attract to their fathers and despise their mothers this is called Electra complex
- girls have penis envy

repressed psychological trauma affects behaviour
- only happens in the first 3 stages
oral fixation = biting their nails and sucking their thumb
anal fixation = anally retentive - neat and organised
anally repulsive-messy and control their emotion
phallic fixation - likely to be anxious and jealous
