How do you know if the belt has a raw edge?
You can see the tensile cord on the side of the belt.
Why would you want to use envelope instead of raw edge?
Envelope will give the belt better protection from the elements.

The driver (smaller) and the driven (bigger)
The driven is always a what?
A pulley
The driver is the only one that changes, there are 3 types for v-belts, toothed and flat belts, what are they?
V belts - sheave
Flat belts - drum style
Toothed belts - sprocket
Advantages of flat belts?
They are flexible and can easily go around corners
Disadvantages of flat belts?
High tension
Biggest advantage that belts have over other drive types?
They act as a cluth to the system preventing catastrophic failure

The side that is being pushed
How to know what the tension side is?
The side that is being pulled
