The criminal justice system.
Made up of the multiple organisations and agencies that work together in England and Wales to enforce laws and punished convicted offenders.
Agencies involved in the criminal justice system.

Law creators.
Parliament and judges make laws dealing with crime. All is involved to government departments such as the ministry of justice and the home office.
- Ministry of Justice - protects an advances the principles of justice.
- Home office - fundamental role in the security of the UK.
Police.
Responsible for investigating, gathering evidence, questioning witnesses and suspects, and enforcing law.
In most cases, please send files to CPS to determine whether a prosecution is made .
Police also issued fixed penalties and warnings to offenders who aren’t arrested.
HM courts.
Magistrates court deal with less serious offences. Crown Court deal with more serious offences.
Suspects enter a plea in the magistrates court, suspects can also enter bail and legal aid. if a guilty plea entered the offender a sentenced, if not a plea is began.
Verdict will be decided at the end of trials by jury or magistrates , if the verdict is guilty then sentence symbol will take place (imprisonment).
Prison and probation services.
Both carry out sentences given out to offenders.
They play parts and rehabilitation so reoffending is reduced.
Prisons - handout custodial sentences and temporary supervision depending on crime.
Probation - supervise offenders on community work of those who are released on license.
Relationships (police)

Police - give evidence as a prosecution witness, to protect vulnerable witnesses and transport offenders to ✨courts✨
Police - gather evidence for ✨CPS✨ and well as charge offenders in line with ✨CPS✨ instructions.
Police - arrest those tho breach their license, offenders are then sent to ✨prisons✨

CPS- advise ✨police✨ on evidence collection and what to charge suspects with.
CPS - prep and present cases against suspects within ✨courts✨, CPS provide ✨courts✨ with case fuels and witness coordination .

Ministry of justice - responsible for the running of ✨courts✨prison services✨probation services✨, uses tax money to fund organisations.
Home office - works with ✨police✨ to identify priorities for forces such as tax money used to fund police force.
Relationships (courts and tribunal services)
Courts and tribunal services - have help from ✨judges✨ to ensure smooth running order of ✨courts✨
Also works with ✨prison services✨ to transfer offenders from prisons to court.
Relationships (national probation service)
NPS - supervised offenders sentenced to community work, working to investigate drug tests with ✨courts✨
NPS - also works with offenders who are released from ✨prison✨ providing supervision.
Relationships (HM prison service)
Works with ✨courts✨ to facilitate legal visits and custodial sentences.
Works with ✨NPS✨ with prisoners who have been released from prison or will be released on licence.
